Welcome to FootballPerspective.com

Welcome to footballperspective.com. Football Perspective is a blog about football history, football stats, and football stats and history.

I’ve written about fantasy football for the past decade over at Footballguys.com, the leading fantasy football content site in the industry. I also worked for a number of years at pro-football-reference.com, and you can find all of those articles at the PFR Blog. I’ve also been fortunate enough to work with the Fifth Down blog at the New York Times, along with Chris Brown’s excellent site, smartfootball.com.

So what will I be doing here? I’ll be blogging about everything football-related, from Jerry Rice to Bobby Douglass, and from the 1978 Patriots to who is the greatest quarterback of all time.

Hopefully you can learn something in at least a few of these posts. Welcome and be sure to comment! If you’ve got any questions or ideas for a football article, please direct them to chase [at] footballperspective [dot] com.

    Hi, Chase.

I’m not someone who usually comments on blogs, but I wanted to say that I’ve enjoyed your writing ever since I discovered you on the PFR blog a few years ago. With that said, I can’t help but mention that you repeated “football stats” in your opening paragraph. =)

    Good luck with your site.

I’m really lucky I even found this blog. I just happened to be on Twitter the other day and saw your link. I almost never check my Twitter account.

Any chance of getting Doug to contribute?

Any chance of bringing the podcasts back? Man, do I miss those.

There is a nonzero chance of getting Doug on board, Richie.

Regarding podcasts, let’s go with yes and no. There’s a good chance some form of the podcast is back, although in a different format. More on this as we get closer to the season.

      So you’re saying there’s a chance!

I really enjoyed the podcasts. To my knowledge, there were no other podcasts like them. Yours were essentially “NFL History” podcasts.

The trivia podcasts were of course very interesting to me.

The one player, one team, one game were excellent.

Plus, Doug once promised to talk more about Steve Walsh. But left us hanging.

LAte to the party, I know. But I just want to join Richies praisefest here and say how much i enjoyed the PFR-blog and the podcasts in particular. When the blog dried up, the first thing I did was backup all of those episodes.

Good luck with this new project – it is already shaping up nicely.

Even later to the party, but I’m so glad AdvancedNFLStats linked me here today! I followed Chase fr0m PFRBlog to SmartFootball but then he disappeared. This site is automatically earns a place in my daily reading just from the author, but getting Doug back and doing some podcasts (where I pray you DON’T change the format) would be even better!

I’m so happy to find this site, I think I might be tearing up right now. There are few things I truly enjoy as much as intelligent analysis of sport topics – and I’m finding that in spades here. Thank you and keep it coming!
