Removing two of the worst Big Ten teams or comparing the conferences rank-to-rank biases the Big Ten/Pac-12 comparison in the other direction. One way Sagarin compares conferences is to use a 1, 2, 3...n/2...3, 2, 1 weighting. If we use that, we get 44.5 weighted average for the P12 and 43.1 for the B10. Another way would be to remove the two middle-ranked teams in the B10--in this case Nebraska and Northwestern--or remove the top and bottom teams (Ohio State and Rutgers) and then taking a simple average. Doing that doesn't change the picture much.

It's always tough to determine conference strength, but it seems hard to conclude that the B10 was an overall better conference than the P12 this year (based on SRS).
