In the panthers just cut the biggest thing that ever happen to them. Smith deserves the h.o.f. nod, hes a warrior, and pound for pound the greatest receiver of all times, and so underrated as a blocker. His leadership and production wil lbe greatly missed, we love you smitty, now go get your ring many of us panther nation, have converted to ravens fans, because of him, how many players can make you do that?

Smith, like Jimmy Smith, may never make the Hall of Fame.

I wonder how much the name “Smith” has prevented these guys from being more famous. Does the common name make it harder for fans and media to treat a guy as special or think of him as particularly good? I suspect it plays a part.

It’s hard to say for Emmitt. Some people think he’s underrated and others think he’s overrated. Maybe playing for Dallas helps overcome the name.
