The Panthers are 0-for-7 a recovering fumbles this year. That sounds bad, but I wouldn't say that's responsible for the team's record. Only 3 of the 7 fumbles came in key situations, with only 2 coming in losses.

-- One came on a lateral on the last play of the game vs. the Saints, so this was just an end-of-game desperation fumble.

-- Three others came in wins near the end of the game. On the 2nd play of the 4Q against SF, leading 31-10, Cam was sacked and fumbled, losing the ball. The 49ers kicked a FG, and on the ensuing kickoff, Ted Giff muffed it, and the 49ers recovered and scored a TD. Still, even after that TD, the 49ers win probability was less than 2%. And last week, with 3:20 left and up by 10, Stewart fumbled and Arizona recovered, but the Panthers picked off Arizona on the next play.

-- Earlier in the SF game, Fozzy Whitaker fumbled in a key situation, at midfield early in the 2Q and SF recovered. But obviously Carolina still won.

The other two came in the Tampa Bay game.

-- With 9 minutes left in the 2Q, Ginn muffed a punt in a 3-0 game. FWIW, the Bucs wound up missing a FG on that drive, and Carolina took over right where they would have, anyway.

-- Early in the 4Q, Derek Anderson scrambled for a first down and was fumbled when hit. FWIW, I wouldn't call this unlucky: the Bucs were the only people in the area to recover http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-highlights/0ap3000000719080/Derek-Anderson-fumbles-on-scramble-Bucs-recover

It's still pretty odd to have 7 fumbles and recover none of them, tho.
