To Victor's point I saw that same documentary and was a bit disappointed in some of its historical inaccurices. It promoted that the NFL was a run first league compared to the AFL. But there were some very pass heavy teams such as the NY Giants of 1961 thru 1963 (Tittle had back to back years of 30+ TD passes). Also, it neglected the 1970 to 1976 era of low passing and did not emphasize the rule changes starting in 1978 that led to a signficant increase in passing.

Had the pleasure of watching A Football Life: The Forward Pass last week. (I'm NFL network deprived unless I'm traveling.) I consider this analysis of a few important years concomitant to the historical breadth offered by that program. (H/T to Richie)
