He also had a bit of a fumbling problem. I seem to remember him fumbling on the goal line a couple of times, within a week or two.

Sammie Smith was drafted to be the answer at RB for the Dolphins in the 1990s, but was a huge disappointment. Smith went to Florida State, and in what I believe was his first game as a starter, tore through the Patriots for roughly 150 yards. Unfortunately, off field issues derailed his career, including drugs, and Smith was soon out of the NFL. Smith was a big man with speed, but threw it all away.
