Nice.

A friend of mine is a Packers fan. Back in the early 90's we used to share our misery with our terrible running games for so long. (Since I really only became a Dolphins fan in about 1982 or 1983, Abdul-Jabbar was the first 1,000-yard rusher I knew of.)

Instead of the NFL merger, 2 better cutoff points might be 1961 and 1978 when the schedule increased to 14 and 16 respectively.

I looked earlier, and prior to 1961, when the NFL played a 12-game schedule, there were only 14 thousand yard rushers. 9 of those were in the mid-late-50s. From 61 to 77, there were something like 84 thousand yard rushers. Since the NFL expanded to 16 games, there have been 478 thousand yard rushers. Granted the # of teams has gone up over time too.
