Just as a bit of an addendum:

Following his retirement from the NFL, Campbell's only coaching work was a single season as the defensive coordinator at Georgia, his alma mater. He then left coaching for good, and I haven't seen any references to work after that, so I'm guessing that he retired from working life at age 64.

In 2013, at age 84, Campbell broke four vertebrae in his neck, leaving him living off of a feeding tube for months after spinal fusion surgery. By all accounts, he continued to be a positive, genial guy even after this accident that could easily have killed him. He recovered from that injury.

On July 18, 2017, the Swamp Fox died at age 87. I doubt many unsuccessful head coaches could come close to the outpouring of love he received from his former players and associates--there are stories popping up everywhere about his detailed technique coaching with defensive linemen, his insistence that everyone spend time with their families instead of letting football overtake their lives, and even his habit of handing out jelly beans to the front office staff. He really seems to have been an incredibly nice guy whom everyone liked.

His son, Scott, is also currently working in Washington as the director of college scouting, having worked in various capacities in personnel departments in Atlanta, Kansas City, Chicago, and Washington since 1990.
