I remember thinking that game was an odd "feeling" game, because it felt like some re-alignment to the proper order of the NFL. The 2009 Jets felt like an aberration--a Tempest Toad of the modern NFL. They were a great defense and not much else. They had a terrible QB who people kept trying to claim was good because the team kept winning. That was not supposed to work. Manning ripping them to shreds and sending them home just seemed like he fixed a mistake.
