Hornung certainly didn&#039;t do Starr any favors with his leg that year, but 1964 wasn&#039;t the worst offender.


His most under expectation seasons were 1968 and 1960, when he was 1.95 and 1.90 wins below PE. 1964 comes next with 1.63 below PE.


The only three seasons in which Starr&#039;s teams outperformed PE in his starts are 1962, 1965, and 1970. In 1962, they were awesome and barely outperformed their PE (0.22). In 1965, they had a .733 w% and a .692 PE, for a 0.63 difference. In 1970, they had a losing record with the point differential of a much worse team.
